HURRICANE DORIAN: DISASTER RELIEF INFORMATION

As posted on the Florida Baptist convention website, the Baptist Global Response (BGR) will be the lead Southern Baptist agency to assist the Bahamas with relief and recovery.  Additionally, one of our faithful Florida Baptist, Randy Crowe, ( Island Outreach) will be providing immediate relief to the islands.

You may contact either of these organizations to direct funding of financial resources. These are our best response as they allow our trusted Baptist leaders to provide immediate support. They can best take advantage of large purchase discounts and purchase essential items as may be needed for particular area.

At this point, we are making no collections or requests of anything other than money. Be sure to mark your check for "Bahama disaster relief”. 100% of all funds contributed will go directly to the disaster effort.

Florida Baptist Convention: Disaster Relief

How can I help? In the next couple of days we’re preparing and coordinating with other organizations. Everyone can pray and we hope many will give to this effort. flbaptist.org/give is the easiest way.

Can I volunteer? If you’re fully trained, yes. Please standby for additional info that you’ll receive. Not trained? Your church can send groups: flbaptist.org/day-volunteer/

What if I’m not trained? Unfortunately only trained volunteers can be in this area. However, consider getting a group from your church: flbaptist.org/day-volunteer/. Want to train for next time?  Disaster Relief Training Schedule 2019

How do I give? This is going to be a long-term cleanup. We need your help: flbaptist.org/give

What are Florida Baptists doing? 2 of our mobile kitchens are in the process of mobilization and setup. One of them is at Thomasville Road Baptist Church in Tallahassee. It should be serving hot meals by Saturday. Our second mobile kitchen is targeted to head in to Panama City today. Our leadership team and regional catalysts have been making contact with pastors to assess their needs. Site visits will begin as soon as the search and rescue phase of recovery is over. Please pray, follow our social media, and give if you feel led. flbaptist.org/give

We give thanks to God always for you all  1 Thess 1:2 NKJV

I want to salute the many Volunteers who by their good example have made such a difference in serving others this past year. From South Carolina, to West Virginia, to Louisiana and here in Florida, Disaster Relief Volunteers demonstrated in word and in deed the love of Christ in serving those impacted by floods and hurricanes.  Thank you volunteers! You are amazing! Thank you for your generous and sacrificial labors of love! Thank you for your “can do” attitudes as you faced the varied opportunities to stand beside survivors! Thank you for extra hours, tireless efforts, and joyful spirits that brought hope, help, and healing to so many! Thank you for giving me the privilege of serving with YOU!  Indeed, we give thanks to God always for you all!  – Delton Beall, Florida Disaster Relief Director

2019 Disaster Relief Training Dates

We assist all people in crisis

The Disaster Relief Ministry allows Florida Baptist to act immediately and effectively as Jesus did to help people. When people are hurting because of a disaster, we respond with love, healing, and help. We assist all people in crisis regardless of ethnic background or religious beliefs. We do not ask the survivors for financial support.

  • Disaster Relief efforts can be summed up in one phrase: “A cup of cold water in Jesus name”
  • We are following the example of Jesus when He fed 5,000 and 4,000 and when he stopped to help just one person in need.
  • His teachings in the parable of the Good Samaritian- Luke 10:30-34
  • Disaster Relief is Christian Love in action, meeting urgent needs of hurting humanity in crisis situations.
  • Jesus often used teaching sessions to heal or healing to teach. When He sent the twelve disciples, He instructed them to teach and to heal, giving first priority to teaching. However, when He sent forth the seventy, He instructed them to heal then to teach.
